How much should we turn so the danger target's CPA increases to more than 2 miles?

The danger target is only 36 degrees off our bow and their Relative Motion vector (echo trail) is not long so only a moderate course change is necessary.

Turning to starboard 30 degrees will not immediately show our own ship's red side light to the danger target, but it should be enough of a turn to make our intentions clear.
